The SOAR lab welcomes Valeria Gutierrez, a new PhD student. Valeria's current research focuses on how cultural processes and ecological contexts shape family dynamics and youth outcomes.

Dr. Hernández delivered a presentation on “A Person-Centered Examination of Culturally Relevant Practices in School and Academic Functioning in Adolescence” at the Society for Research on Adolescence Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.

Jamila Espinosa graduated with an M.S. in Child Development. Julia Carrillo graduated with a B.S. in Human Development and Chicanx Studies. Samantha Hum graduated with a B.S. in Human Development and Sociology.

In a presentation hosted by the American Institutes for Research, Dr. Hernández presents trends in Latinx student absenteeism in California before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Hernández delivered a presentation on multicultural socialization at the Society for Research on Adolescence Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.

Dr. Hernández was selected as a Hellman Fellow to launch the “Promoting Mental Health Resilience in Middle School” project.

Dr. Hernández presents "A Person-Centered Analysis of Ethnic-Racial Socialization in Adolescence" as part of the CAMPOS Research Colloquium series at UC Davis.

Dr. Hernández delivered a research presentation at the UC Berkeley Institute of Human Development Colloquium.
